Say YES to local PARKS!
Here in San Mateo County, our local parks define the quality of our cities and communities. They provide places to play, beautiful open space, after-school and summer programs for children and teens, and places to gather with family and friends.
Recent budget crises have severely limited parks funding. Parks for the Future will provide much-needed dedicated funding for parks and recreation programs in every community throughout the County.
With voter approval on the June 3rd, 2008 ballot of a 1/8-cent sales tax — costing the average resident less than $2/month — we can improve the quality and maintenance of local parks, provide after-school and summer programs for children and teens and preserve more than 75,000 acres of open space. Join us — and say YES to local PARKS!
Thanks to the many who worked on the effort to pass Measure O to provide new and dedicated funding for our local parks. See the blog for our thank-you note.
With 100% of the precincts counted, Measure O received a robust 60.4% yes votes, but is short the 2/3rds approval threshold required and will not pass. Watch for changes in the results here(Scroll all the way down for Measure O). Please look at opportunities to contribute funding or time to your local or County parks.
